Easy Route

I live in Redlands, California, close to the 10 Freeway, which is about 490 driving miles away from the Circle Z Ranch in Patagonia, Arizona. Although its a long distance, there are only 3 right turns to get to Circle Z. I wish life was that simple!

Splish Splash

Clippity clop is the sound you would normally expect to hear when riding a horse, but at circle Z you will have the wonderful experience of a river trail, where you will see abundant wildlife along the waters edge.

The Amazing Joe!

The horse far right is Joe, and he has the amazing ability to know when to stop for taking photos. Good photography assistants are hard to find, especially when they are a horse! Joe has been my horse on previous visits to the the Circle Z, and knows a good view when he sees one.

Tilt Shift Camera Technique

Tilt shift is the camera technique of tilting the lens plane and the film plane, which changes the normal focal plane in the camera. The effect can give the appearance of looking at a scale model. This was only available on the larger format cameras, but now it can be done with some of the small point and shoot cameras, and in photoshop.

Ancient Fortress

From a distance these rocks look like a tumbled down fortress, but although these are natural outcrops, maybe the Apache, or the tribes before them that lived in the Patagonia area used them as a defense.
